Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee and guide the team on client projects related to taxation.
  2. Conduct thorough reviews of tax documentation, including corporate and individual tax filings, charity T2s, and informational returns.
  3. Manage workflow efficiently, utilizing tax seniors and other personnel while identifying and implementing improved work processes.
  4. Interpret and apply the Income Tax Act and relevant tax regulations to specific client scenarios.
  5. Perform tax research as necessary and offer proactive tax planning strategies.
  6. Address tax-related inquiries and issues with staff, partners, and clients to ensure timely resolution.
  7. Provide clear explanations and guidance on technical questions from Tax and Audit teams and clients.
  8. Stay updated on the latest developments and changes in tax legislation through ongoing professional development.
  9. Supervise, mentor, and allocate tasks to Tax staff based on complexity and deadlines.
  10. Ensure adherence to procedures during the personal tax season.
  11. Review and update the monthly tax newsletter as required.

Qualifications

  1. CA designation is required.
  2. Completion of CICA In Depth tax program.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in tax, with exposure to a wide range of client tax matters.
  4. Previous roles demonstrating the necessary skill level, professional competence, and judgment.
  5. Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Excellent client relationship management skills.
  7. Ability to perform well under pressure.
  8. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Proficiency in software applications such as Caseware, Caseview, Taxprep, and MS Office.
