About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to join our team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our technology team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing cutting-edge data solutions that drive business growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of data engineering solutions, leveraging modern technologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and reliable data pipelines and architectures.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and apply them to drive business value.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with a strong background in technology and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of banking domain, credit risk, finance, and analytics.
  • Experience with financial services and capital credit risk technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in programming languages such as R, Python, HTML/XML, .NET, ASP, Visual Basic, PL/SQL, UNIX.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle databases, SQL Server, Hadoop cluster, Hive, Power Shell Scripting, Unix Shell Scripting, XML, and encryption technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing BI solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience working on SQL Server framework (SSIS, SSRS, SSMS).
  • 5+ years of experience in SQL Server DB & Query development, Oracle, ETL.
  • Good experience in applying UI/UX and visualization designs.
  • Good experience with software design, coding, versioning, and deployments.
