The Northwestern Health Unit is seeking a skilled Community Health Specialist to join our team. This role plays a vital part in supporting the public health team in multidisciplinary programs that promote health across the lifespan.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work with the Sexual Health and Harm Reduction programs and provide services to priority populations.
  • To collaborate with community partners for planning, implementing, and evaluating Public Health programs.

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified nurse with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing, or eligible to register within the province. The ideal candidate will possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, BScN, and current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certification.

Qualifications
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing, or eligible to register within the province
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, BScN
  • Current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation certification
  • Demonstrated health promotion knowledge, experience with clients of all ages
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and/or experience with principles of adult and child education and community mobilization is an asset
