We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Dietitian to join our team at IWK Health Centre. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing dietetic services to patients and families, consulting with other health professionals, and participating in assessments.
The ideal candidate will have a specialized knowledge and experience level working with youth presenting with eating disorders, as well as the ability to assess and manage the risk associated with these conditions. You will be expected to work collaboratively with our team to provide consultation and support to in-patient, day treatment, and CMHA services.
Responsibilities- Provide dietetic services to patients and families, including assessments, consultations, and treatment planning.
- Collaborate with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients and families.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans.
- Provide education and support to patients and families on nutrition and health-related topics.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of nutrition-related policies and procedures.
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited university.
- Successful completion of a Dietitians of Canada accredited dietetic internship program.
- Current license to practice with the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association or eligibility to obtain license.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with children, youth, and families in a mental health setting.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with children and youth with eating disorders, with formal supervised clinical experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of eating disorders and common mental health conditions, as well as the ability to address the nutritional implications of these conditions through the application of the nutrition care process.
- Demonstrated understanding of Emotion Focused Therapy, Family Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to family-centered care.
- Demonstrated ability to recommend nutrition support and assess/manage complications and risks associated with eating disorders or disordered eating.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Demonstrated excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a collaborative, inter-professional team, as well as the ability to work independently.
