Specialized Services Technician, Industrial Labourer

Job Summary:

The Specialized Services Technician will be working alongside a team of highly trained individuals who handle the company's most dynamic projects. The Technician must be versatile and open to challenges. This individual will be highly motivated, coachable, and willing to obtain further training while always displaying a positive attitude.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute chemical and petroleum transfers, including materials handling.
  • Participate in Confined Space Entry projects, including tank cleanings, as an entrant, man watch, or rescue attendant.
  • Respond to HAZMAT Emergency Response situations and spills.
  • Assist with transloading of railcars, including liquid and solid products.
  • Participate in environmental projects and assist as required.
  • Provide technical rescue services.
  • Participate in decontamination projects under the direction of a project leader.
  • Participate in projects that are deemed out of scope or require more planning and preparation.
  • Lead by example and work safely, ensuring compliance with all GFL's policies and procedures.
  • Affiliate with various divisions and work types throughout the company.

Requirements:

  • A valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract is required; a valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license would be considered an asset.
  • Be physically fit and able to wear chemical protective clothing and respiratory protection from time to time as required.
  • Be able to be flexible with their schedule and work extended hours as needed; and meet the travel requirements of this position.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with vacuum trucks and power wash equipment would be an asset.

  • Able to work out of town from time to time.
  • Meticulous, organized, and motivated.
  • Specialized training provided by GFL.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required drug and alcohol testing.
