Job Title: Land Analyst

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Land Analyst to join our team in Edmonton. As a key member of our Petroleum and Natural Gas Tenure Operations Branch, you will play a critical role in the development of energy and mineral resources in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze industry requests and applications for petroleum and natural gas rights, geothermal, and pore space resources.
  • Interpret and apply applicable legislation, regulations, and department policies to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including oil and gas companies, Land Agents, and Legal Services, to resolve complex issues and make informed decisions.
  • Process and administer various tenure agreements, including unitization agreements, continuation and validation applications, and Crown authorizations.
  • Provide exceptional written and verbal communication skills to efficiently work with industry partners and internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two-year diploma in Land Administration, Petroleum Land Administration, Legal Administration, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum one year progressively responsible related experience, including interpreting and applying legislation, client service, and land and geological experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Office 365 and SharePoint.
  • Understanding of business processes and systems required within PNG Tenure, including Alberta Mineral Information System (AMI), Electronic Transfer System (ETS), and Corporate Accounting Reporting System (CARS2).
  • Knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations, including Mines and Minerals Act, Prompt Payment and Construction Lien Act, Petroleum and Natural Gas Tenure Regulation, and Mines and Minerals Administration Regulation.
