Job Description
The City of Vancouver seeks a skilled Insurance Portfolio Manager to join its team. The successful candidate will provide expertise and advice on risk financing, insurance and loss control, supporting the Senior Manager, Insurance, Claims and Loss Controls in identifying and assessing risks, and loss control exposures.

Main Responsibilities

  • Supports the Senior Manager in developing and implementing insurance portfolio planning and procurement strategies.
  • Provides expert advice on risk financing, insurance and loss control, including reviewing and providing advice on insurance policies and respective coverage for accuracy and confirming adequacy of contractual requirements.
  • Manages relationships with third party service providers, including brokers and insurance companies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of the 12th school grade.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation required.
  • Sound related experience in the insurance, claims and risk management field, preferably for a large, diverse organization or municipality.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of insurance, risk management, and loss control.
  • Working knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of contract law, indemnity, waivers, contract negotiation, risk management and risk transfer.
