The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Full Time Retreat and Conference Manager. This is a permanent full-time position based on 40 hours per week, requiring the ability to work weekday, weekend, and evening shifts as per operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to all aspects of the Jackson's Point Conference Centre operations in accordance with The Salvation Army's Mission, Vision, and Values.
- Strategic Planning: Participate in the planning, developing, and executing of strategic initiatives to ensure the conference centre's success.
- Policies and Procedures: Review and recommend changes to general policies and procedures, as well as review and develop policies to ensure compliance with laws, legislative requirements, and guidelines.
- Communication and Liaison: Liaise with Business (Finance and Property) and Human Relations personnel at Divisional Headquarters to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Health and Safety: Monitor practices to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety standards, inspections, and certifications, and prepare, submit, and act on incident reports.
- Staff Supervision: Provide leadership to direct reports through regularly scheduled team meetings, one-on-one meetings, and performance evaluations.
- Operational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operation of Jackson's Point Conference Centre operations/properties, including identifying and resolving potential risk situations, ensuring the protection and security of the property.
- Financial Management: Manage budgets/expenses, analyze, and interpret financial information, and monitor sales and profits.
- Marketing and Promotion: Develop and implement an intuitive and efficient marketing strategy to promote the conference centre's services.
- Education: Completion of an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Hotel/Hospitality Management, or a relevant field.
- Experience: A minimum of four (4) years' experience in hotel management, business management, human resources management, budget management/controls, supervising/managing people, managing resources, and communicating orally and in writing with suppliers.
- Skills and Capabilities: Strong understanding of hotel management best practices, data entry software, and proficiency in using all aspects of Microsoft Office; knowledge of hotel management software is an advantage.
- Leadership and Supervision: Supervisory/management skills and the ability to lead, coach, and motivate; excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish rapport with staff.
- Communication and Problem-Solving: Excellent oral/written communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization in a professional and engaging manner; strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Integrity and Confidentiality: Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality, with professional ethics and a commitment to upholding The Salvation Army's values.
