Job Title: Senior Director, Pharmacy Operations

At Loblaw Companies Limited, we are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director, Pharmacy Operations to lead our pharmacy operations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Northern Ontario.


Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a team of Directors, who in turn will coach and develop their teams to ensure a safe and effective pharmacy practice that provides exceptional patient care.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial/Business Growth:
    • Accountable for delivering on period financial results and identifying opportunities for growth.
    • Responsible for investigating and understanding critical P&L components, including labour, inventory, and growth opportunities.
    • Strive for continuous improvement in sales and script growth, maintaining a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Culture & Colleagues:
    • Lead with our culture principles, including authenticity, trust, and making connections.
    • Build and implement recruitment strategies and engagement/retention plans, in partnership with Human Resources.
    • Continuous talent development of Pharmacy Directors, focusing on the multifaceted pharmacy market and leadership.
    • Drive a positive, performance culture where colleagues feel accountable and ownership to impact a positive difference each day.
  • Enablement & Operational Excellence:
    • Monitor and review weekly sales projections, labour, and workflow, shrink, inventory, training, professional services, quality assurance, promotional programs, store presentation, and project rollouts with Directors.
    • Consistent communication with Directors to keep them updated on program and initiative implementation, accountabilities, and provincial pharmacy regulatory changes.
    • Find opportunities through review of store standards, department appearance, merchandising, signing, backroom, and labour standards, resulting in improved department conditions, sales, and costs based on execution of recommended solutions.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration & Leadership:
    • Regular dialogue with the enterprise pharmacy team and Ops VP, relative to upcoming promotions, staffing, service, and store-specific commitments.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with District Managers and Vice Presidents of respective grocery banners to ensure appropriate knowledge and partnership and business insight.

Requirements:
  • 10+ years of progressive, management-related experience.
  • Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy; or equivalent.
  • MBA preferred.
  • Excellent eye for business.
  • Understanding of retail pharmacy processes.
  • Proven track record to lead ground-breaking change efforts.
  • Proven understanding of Pharmacy Landscape and Retail Industry.
  • Strong existing/collaborative relationships with regulatory and advocacy partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills; ability to empower a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in relationship building and influencing to achieve results.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, coaching, and mentoring skills required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ideally, the incumbent will reside in Winnipeg, MB.
  • Regular travel is required, often requiring overnight stays.
