The University of British Columbia's Department of Pediatrics is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary translational research program. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of our Precision Health Initiative, collaborating with clinician researchers, health professionals, and trainees to design and complete studies that contribute to improved patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership Role: Advance precision health research at BC Children's Hospital, collaborating with other researchers and clinicians to share knowledge and strategies for patient recruitment and data analysis.
- Clinical and Research Partnerships: Engage with BCCHR researchers and BCCH clinicians to build connections across the site, identifying appropriate clinical and research groups to involve for unique precision health cases.
- Precision Health Education: Create and deliver precision health education and training to clinical and research staff and trainees, ensuring they have the necessary skills to contribute to precision health research.
- Computational Resources: Manage local computational infrastructure and develop training materials for its utilization, ensuring seamless access to resources necessary for the success of the Precision Health initiative.
- Research Analysis: Lead analysis strategies for multi-omics study of rare disease patients, presenting research findings at conferences and related research events.
- Technology and Software Solutions: Participate in the evaluation, selection, planning, and launch of technology and software solutions to further research goals, preparing and leading the development of content for academic manuscripts, technical reports, research proposals, and presentations.
- Professional Development: Keep up-to-date with new applications, technology, and algorithmic developments, supporting best practices and performing other related duties as required.
We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in a relevant field and a minimum of seven (7) years of laboratory research experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience utilizing and interpreting informatics methods or collaborating with informatics experts to understand and integrate different precision health profiling data. A strong track record of developing and delivering educational materials and seminars to a variety of research and clinical-based audiences is also essential.
The successful candidate will possess superior analytical, problem-solving, and system analysis skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and synthesize related data/information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to a wide array of fundamental and clinical research audiences, are also required.
