Job Overview

The Tooling Design Engineer will be responsible for designing installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling, and lifting tools. The successful candidate will participate in the design of specialized tools related to recent major projects or those being submitted.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analyze technical information, including technical specifications, scope of work, and work breakdown.
  • Design special site tooling for site assembly in accordance with site planning and budget, considering EHS aspects.
  • Plan the tooling design phase, monitoring and coordinating with the project team.
  • Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure design consistency with site installation methods.
  • Optimize tooling or machine design to improve and reduce site installation time.
  • Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings.
  • Write engineering reports and documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals, etc.
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of site teams.
  • Validate the cost of procedures and tooling during the tender phase with other members of the construction and commissioning team.
  • Responsible for project deliverables and budgets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Safety Standards for Material Handling and Lifting Equipment (OSHA) Below the hook.
  • Knowledge of welding and machining would be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without restriction or if not, Canadians having the TN-1 Visa.
  • Ready to travel time to time in North America (5%).
  • Experience in hydroelectricity field highly recommended.
  • To be passionate about mechanical design and the field of hydropower.
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to material resistance, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding are assets for this work.
  • Design 3D drawing (NX).
  • SmartSheet and Excel Intermediate knowledge.
