Job Description

The Tooling Design Engineer is a key member of the Methods & Special Tooling team, responsible for designing installation tools, machining, dismantling, handling, and lifting tools.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Analyze technical information, including technical specifications, scope of work, and work breakdown.
  • Design special site tooling for site assembly, in accordance with site planning and budget, taking into account the EHS aspect.
  • Plan the tooling design phase, monitoring and coordinating with the project team.
  • Participate in design reviews of various projects and ensure that the design is consistent with site installation methods.
  • Optimize tooling or machine design to improve and reduce site installation time.
  • Prepare information and supervise the execution of technical drawings.
  • Write engineering reports and documents, including test procedures, engineering notes, maintenance manuals, etc.
  • Provide technical support to the supply chain and participate in the technical support of site teams.
  • Validate the cost of procedures and tooling during the tender phase with other members of the construction and commissioning team.
  • Responsible for project deliverables and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Safety Standards for Material Handling and Lifting Equipment (OSHA) Below the hook.
  • Knowledge of welding and machining would be an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without restriction or if not, Canadians having the TN-1 Visa.
  • Ready to travel time to time in North America (5%).
  • Experience in hydroelectricity field highly recommended.
  • To be passionate about mechanical design and the field of hydropower.
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to material resistance, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding are assets for this work.
  • Design 3D drawing (NX).
  • SmartSheet and Excel Intermediate knowledge.
