The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Lead Civil and Seismic Engineer to join our Mechanical and Civil Engineering Department. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead civil engineering analysis and design for nuclear power plants, perform condition and performance assessments of civil structures, and interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders.

  • Lead & perform civil engineering analysis and design for nuclear power plants.
  • Perform condition and performance assessments of civil structures.
  • Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project.
  • Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering.
  • Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have experience in a project-driven environment, with the capability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and within project constraints. Nuclear refurbishment or new nuclear experience is considered an asset. You should also have demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize assigned work, coordinate multiple activities efficiently, and possess strong attention to detail and quality assurance requirements.

  • 8+ years relevant experience in civil engineering, preferably in nuclear refurbishment or new nuclear projects.
  • Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO) status or eligibility.
  • Strong understanding of CANDU technology, nuclear power plant design and operation.
  • Familiarity with structural engineering computer codes such as STAAD and ANSYS.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to interface effectively with station customers.
