Employment Counsellor

We are seeking an experienced Employment Counsellor to join our team at the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. As an Employment Counsellor, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve their career goals and overcome employment barriers.
Key Responsibilities:- Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling and client outcomes
- Conduct interviews to gather employment history, educational background, and career goals
- Assess client problems and develop personalized plans to address them
- Identify barriers to employment and provide support with job readiness skills, job search strategies, and resume writing
- Perform administrative tasks and provide employers with human resource and employment-related guidance
- Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to help clients achieve their goals
- Administer and interpret tests to determine client interests, aptitudes, and abilities
- Collect labour market information and provide clients with job opening, entry, and skill requirement information
- Provide established workers with strategies for dealing with job dissatisfaction, making mid-career changes, and adjusting to workplace transitions
- Follow up on counselling program results and client adjustments
- College, CEGEP, or non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
- 1 to less than 7 months of experience
- First Aid Certificate
- Valid driver's licence
- Fast-paced environment, work under pressure, tight deadlines, and large caseload
