The Town of Paradise seeks a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its Public Works Department.

About the Role

Under the supervision of experienced Forepersons, this position is responsible for maintaining and repairing the Town's fleet of heavy equipment and light duty vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing heavy equipment and light duty vehicles;
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks and repairs as needed;
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure efficient operation;
  • Ensuring all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations;
  • Providing exceptional customer service to internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A Red Seal Interprovincial Journeyman Certificate as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic is mandatory;
  • Registration and good standing with the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador are required;
  • At least three (3) years' experience in repair of automobiles and heavy equipment is necessary;
  • Completion of safety courses is an asset;
  • A valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record are required;
  • General computer and software diagnostics skills are beneficial;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and
  • Must be physically and medically able to perform all aspects of the role.

Compensation and Benefits

This unionized position comes with a competitive hourly rate of $59,521.30 - $74,401.62 per the Collective Agreement. Additional benefits include shift differential, standby pay, and comprehensive benefits package.
