Job Title: Senior Naval Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Naval Architect to join our team at Duke. As a key member of our marine design team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of complex vessel projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with stakeholders and project managers to plan and execute technical activities on various projects.
  • Oversee intermediate and junior level staff in all aspects of Naval Architecture.
  • Manage projects as a project manager, overseeing new vessel design to refits.
  • Perform design, documentation, analysis, and modeling tasks using appropriate software packages.
  • Review design documents to achieve customer, Classification Society, and regulatory approval.
  • Conduct onsite vessel surveys, including vertical ladder ascent and descent, accessing confined spaces, and heights.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Naval Architecture.
  • Registered or eligible for P.Eng.
  • Minimum 10+ years in a design office/shipyard with project management skills experience in refit/new vessel projects.
  • Experience with hydrostatics and resistance/propulsion calculations using software packages such as GHS, ORCA 3D, SHCP, or NavCad is highly desirable.
  • Experience with weight estimating, hull form development, and structural design is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including producing and presenting clear, detailed written technical specifications, procedures, and reports.
  • Expert knowledge of GHS, working knowledge of Ship Constructor, Rhino, and ACAD software, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Availability and willingness to travel.
