Job Description

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical design and support evaluation of commercial and utility-scale wind projects in the Quebec region. This role will be based in Chicago (preferred) or Montreal office, reporting to headquarters in Chicago. French-language skills are required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preliminary technical due diligence of prospective wind energy projects, evaluating project constraints and designing optimized project layouts.
  • Coordinate site characterization studies with industry experts, analyze available meteorological datasets, and establish opinions on long-term resource characteristics.
  • Model expected energy production and affiliated key metrics, including gross and net capacity factors, production profiles, and energy uncertainty.
  • Support pre-construction efforts by maintaining project site plans, facilitating preliminary and final geotechnical investigations, and conducting site visits.
  • Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to execute projects through the construction phase, maintaining a working knowledge of wind turbine technology and affiliated technical and market trends.
  • Interface with project development, origination, finance, environmental, and GIS teams to support project development, marketing, financing, and permitting efforts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience.
  • Proficient in English and French.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deliverables for multiple projects at a time.
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy.
  • Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds.
