JOB SYNOPSIS:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Hummingbird Lodge Supervisor, the Team lead will oversee and maintain all aspects of accommodation and services (exclusive of food and beverage) at the Hummingbird Lodge in the absence of the Hummingbird Lodge Supervisor. For accommodations, this will include the suite and RV Sites. For services, this will include rental equipment, trail network and information boards. When the supervisor is off, they will supervise and lead all aspects of day to day operations.

The team lead's primary role is to provide exceptional experience. They will work in conjunction with the Hummingbird Lodge Supervisor to effectively and efficiently run the Lodge and Campground aspect of this new business, resulting in high-quality resort operations and customer service, fiscal responsibility, strong health and safety culture, and compliance with all government regulations, with a continued focus on Whitewater's company culture and branding.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Embrace and promote Whitewater's mission statement and values.
  • Foster Whitewater's emergency response plan, health and safety plan, and safe work procedures.
  • Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations.
  • Assist in the kitchen when needed.
  • Point of contact for all things relating to camping, RV Parking, and Suite
  • Manage Reservations and point person for Campspot & AirBnB bookings
  • Work with and Support the janitor team with house cleaning in the suite when needed.
  • Order and maintain inventories for all housekeeping products and other suite supplies
  • Ensure maintenance issues are addressed and brought to Supervisors attention.
  • Accountable for effective waste management (garbage/recycling/composting) and pest control
  • Manage rental inventory: propane fire pits, hiking poles, Nordic equipment, snowshoe and avalanche rescue equipment
  • Be knowledgeable on rental equipment set up (nordic, snow shoes etc) and assist guest with fittings
  • Be knowledgeable in all Backcountry Education courses offered
  • Create a welcoming, educational, and social environment for the backcountry community.
  • Participate in training of staff.
  • Act as Supervisor of the Day - oversee operations of Lodge and campground; inclusive of food and beverage, accommodation, equipment, guest service, risk management, and associated regulations.
  • Work with department supervisors and managers to ensure that resort standards are met for marketing, guest services, retail, rentals, facility maintenance, janitorial, trail maintenance and condition and hazard reporting
  • Other duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:

  • 1-2 years of leadership experience an asset.
  • Kitchen experience an asset.
  • Previous backcountry or remote lodge experience as an asset.
  • Must have strong administrative capabilities including working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications (word, excel, PowerPoint), POS systems and electronic and hard copy file management.
  • Serving it Right
  • Food safe 1 an asset

  • Must have superior time management and multitasking skills, with the proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage various deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Self-motivated in guiding a facility by taking initiative and problem-solving.
  • Maintains a professional disposition in all guests and staff interactions, and ensures operations are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems logically and make decisions in unique situations.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service is an asset.
  • Bear aware training is considered an asset.
