About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and implement engaging child-care programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our students, promoting their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Lead activities, tell stories, teach songs, and take children on educational outings to local points of interest, fostering a love for learning and exploration.
  • Record Keeping: Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in maintaining accurate records, ensuring the well-being and progress of our students.
  • Encouraging Creativity: Support children in expressing their creativity through various mediums, such as art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
  • Health and Hygiene: Guide and assist children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, promoting a healthy and safe environment.
  • Observation and Reporting: Monitor children for signs of potential learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors, ensuring timely interventions.
  • Licensing and Compliance: Stay up-to-date with licensing regulations and ensure our centre meets all necessary standards.
  • Staff Meetings: Participate in regular staff meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and best practices, promoting a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Community Partnerships: Establish and maintain relationships with co-workers, community service providers, and families, ensuring a seamless and effective support system for our students.
  • Centre Operations: Contribute to maintaining a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment, adhering to our centre's policies and procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Certifications and Memberships: Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate.
  • Experience with Special Needs: Experience working with children with behavioral issues, allergies, and asthma.
  • Security and Safety: Vulnerable sector check, immunization records, and a criminal record check.
  • Transportation and Travel: Own transportation and access to public transportation.
  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, physically demanding work, and attention to detail, with a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Personal Suitability: Punctuality, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, judgement, reliability, team player, values and ethics, creativity, and honesty.
  • Experience: Experience an asset.
