Theatre Technical Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatre Technical Coordinator to join our team at St. George's School. This is a full-time position that will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our theatre facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Overall responsibility for the infrastructure of the 422-seat facility
  • Teaching stagecraft to students by delivering the BC curriculum at.4 FTE (two blocks)
  • Preparing production and build schedules, and providing technical support for each production and school event
  • Designing audio, lighting, and sets for productions
  • Organizing material and hardware acquisition, carpentry, set pieces, crew scheduling, tool and equipment training, tool assignment, maintenance, and storage
  • Ensuring safety systems and safe operating procedures are followed at all times for lifts, ladders, and scaffolding
  • Tracking theatre bookings and providing supervision and instruction for all groups using the theatre facilities
  • Ensuring all evening events and productions in the auditorium are adequately staffed and crewed with students
  • Hiring external support for productions as needed
  • Coordination and communication with the Head of Theatre regarding activities, space, facilities, and budget
  • Inventory management of theatre technical equipment and props
  • AV operation and control of projector and sources used for projectors
  • Troubleshooting auditorium technical issues
  • Providing detailed scheduling for and liaising with other schools when involved in productions
  • Assisting with auditions and participating in casting decisions
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years working in a technical coordinator capacity
  • Valid BC Teaching Certificate (or willingness to obtain an Independent Teaching Certificate)
  • Expertise with lighting requirements, including maintenance and digital control boards
  • Experience in building sets and properties
  • Familiarity with costume care and storage
  • Ability to work with diverse user groups and problem-solve with others
  • Excellent communication skills
