Job Summary

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer based out of our Montreal or Toronto Office, working in a hybrid schedule. This position is responsible for leading the engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Design Engineering: Directly or managed, for Mechanical, BMH and Piping disciplines.
  • Documentation and Management: Provide the necessary documentation for SMPP (Structural, Mechanical, Piping and Platework) enquiries and manage the resulting installation contract.
  • Procurement and Contract Management: Procure Mechanical Packages (incl. BMH and Piping) Packages.
  • Technical Support: Provide Engineering and Technical Support to the Office and Site Teams.
  • Commissioning Support: Assist with the commissioning of the assigned packages in accordance with the project & vendor specifications.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Ensure that discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation.
  • Provide design interface between disciplines.
  • Ensure certified design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure the effective peer review and approval of discipline design.
  • Continuously improve, lessons learnt, value engineering, fit for purpose and latest technologies are implemented.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 12 years of experience within a multi-disciplinary EPCM, with Mining & Minerals project exposure.
  • Capital project experience in mining is preferred.
  • A Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Registered Engineer, such as OIQ or P.Eng.
Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is around $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
