About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Data Analytics instructor to teach our CHE1148H: Process Data Analytics course at the University of Toronto.

Job Description:

The driving force behind the fourth industrial revolution is the processing and analysis of big data to extract knowledge, patterns, and information. This role will focus on teaching students the skills necessary to benefit from this data revolution in various industries such as chemical, biologics/pharma, oil/gas, financial, and manufacturing.

In this role, you will develop a course syllabus, create engaging course materials, teach three weekly one-hour classes, conduct office hours, coordinate tutorials with TA assistance, and mark assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive course syllabus that aligns with the curriculum requirements.
  • Create interactive and engaging course materials, including assignments, tests, and exams.
  • Teach three weekly one-hour classes and provide individualized support through office hours.
  • Coordinate tutorials with teaching assistant (TA) support and ensure seamless delivery of the course material.
  • Assess student performance through grading and providing constructive feedback.
Requirements:
  • Completion of an advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required. Candidates in progress of completing their advanced degree may also be considered.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and academic excellence.
  • Previous experience in teaching, teaching excellence, and mastery of the subject area.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Work experience in the chemical, biologics/pharma, oil/gas, financial, and manufacturing industries.

  • A competitive salary based on CUPE minimum salary rates for a half course (HCE), inclusive of vacation pay. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the estimated salary range is $9,457.90 - $10,570.02 per course.
