**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician/Shift Engineer to join our team at Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our hotel's facilities and equipment.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Conduct regular rounds of the hotel to identify and address any maintenance issues
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks as scheduled by the Engineering Department
  • Conduct chemical tests for boilers, chillers, and swimming pool equipment
  • Participate in the fire response team and respond to emergencies as needed
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled
  • Experience with chillers, boilers, and refrigeration systems
  • Experience with HVAC systems and associated preventative maintenance
  • Able to perform minor plumbing, mechanical, and electrical repairs

**Requirements**

  • Previous hotel experience is an asset
  • Graduate from a technical school
  • Building Operator Certificate or Maintenance Technician certification is an asset
  • Computer literate with knowledge of BAS computer system, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in maintenance and repairs

**Physical Aspects of the Position**

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding work including frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps
