Job Summary:

CSA Group is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to join our team in Toronto, Canada. As a Product Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for performing certification and understanding test methods on a variety of Industrial Control Devices to the requirements of Canadian and US standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices at all times.
  • Perform certification and testing on Industrial Control Devices.
  • Use standard engineering methods and techniques to respond to problems and client enquiries.
  • Resolve technical issues to determine the appropriate interpretation of technical requirements.
  • Work with a mentor to ensure completion of projects within time frame deadlines.
  • Prepare work orders and collaborate with Lab Staff and Mentors to determine applicable tests.
  • Prepare certification reports and other related CSA documentation.
  • Review projects and assignments for accuracy, completeness, and conformance with divisional quality documents.
  • Receive technical assistance from qualified technical staff and assigned mentor(s).
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and be willing to travel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 0-2 years job-related experience in industry/industrial control, or
  • Certified Engineering Technologist/technician, Licensed Trades with 3-5 years industry experience.
  • Experience working with industrial control equipment standards (CSA C22.2 no.14, CSA B44.1/ASME A17.5) and Canadian Electrical Code Part I is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures, as well as general Laboratory procedures.
