Waste Management Operator

About the Role:

GFL Environmental is seeking a Plant Operator (General Labourer) to join our team at our Bailieboro location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day operations, including waste receiving, handling, processing, and disposal. This will involve loading and unloading waste vehicles, including vacuum trucks, tankers, straight trucks, and van trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and manage client waste, including bulk liquids/solids and containerized waste
  • Take samples from waste vehicles and containers for lab analysis
  • Operate plant machinery and assist with general maintenance
  • Assist with waste treatment and wastewater treatment methods and processes
  • Prepare shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport
  • Document and report completion status of work assigned by the Shift Supervisor/Manager

Requirements:

  • Previous hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Must be able to work a 2-week rotation between morning and afternoon shifts, Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday work
  • Previous experience operating air diaphragm pumps and bulk liquid transfer systems is an asset
  • Ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs
  • Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required drug testing
  • Propane forklift experience/certification is an asset
  • Must be motivated, able to multi-task, and work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be comfortable working in a mostly outdoor environment
