About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Policy Advisor for Building Codes to join our team at the National Research Council Canada (NRC). As a key member of our Codes Canada team, you will play a critical role in supporting our Centre of Excellence in Construction Research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic policy advice and recommendations to senior management on complex technical issues related to building codes and construction regulations.
  • Support the development of policy considerations and strategic guidance on topics related to building design, construction, and operation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, and research institutions, to advance the development of building codes and standards.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of building construction, regulation, and economic aspects related to the application of technology in building design and construction.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and guidelines related to national priorities in the construction sector.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, architecture, public policy, or building science.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field, with a strong background in policy development, research, and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Experience working in a government agency or regulatory body, preferably in the construction sector.
