Electrical Engineering Research Specialist

This role is part of the Engineering Institute of Canada, a community of knowledge seekers and change makers who lead with purpose. We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Research Specialist to support our research and development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on power electronics technologies and standards
  • Assist with electrical/mechanical design using CAD tools
  • Collaborate on experimental setups and aid in firmware coding for embedded processors
  • Organize and maintain test setups, ensure equipment availability and functionality, and perform troubleshooting and routine maintenance
  • Develop, test, and debug embedded software, implement communication protocols, and design mechanical parts using CAD software

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in CAD software, firmware development, and hardware design
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with excellent problem-solving skills for troubleshooting experimental, equipment, and software issues
  • Effective communicator for collaboration with researchers, students, and partners, with strong organizational skills for managing inventory, maintaining records, and organizing lab space
