About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our team at ORBCOMM. As a key member of our Strategic Sourcing department, you will be responsible for leading NPI and Transition projects with EMS suppliers, reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the EMS Supplier Quote Process: Develop and implement strategies to optimize supplier selection and award processes.
  • Commercial Aspect of NPI Sourcing Projects: Oversee Phase Gate deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Sourcing of Competitive Pricing: Direct the sourcing of BOM, tooling/fixtures, compliance, samples, NRE, and design services from EMS suppliers.
  • Cost-Cutting and Streamlining Programs: Implement rapid replenishment programs (VMI or consignment programs) to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Should Cost and Should Take Analytics: Analyze market trends and negotiate contracts to attain the best marketplace value.
  • Negotiate and Implement Supplier Agreements: Develop and implement Supplier Agreements (Development Supply Agreements, SOWs, Binding Agreements, and Pull System Agreements).
  • Supplier Performance Clause Recourse: Lead supplier performance clause recourse as needed (e.g., Warranty, Delivery, etc.).
  • Develop and Facilitate Major Supplier Relationships: Foster strong relationships with key suppliers to drive business growth and improve supply chain efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams on supplier Common Assessments Audits to evaluate process capabilities, manufacturing capacity, QC procedures, technology leadership, managerial and financial stability.
  • Early Supplier Involvement Initiatives: Engage suppliers early in the design process to optimize product development and reduce costs.
  • Leverage Existing Suppliers: Maximize benefits from existing suppliers by leveraging their capabilities and expertise.
  • Establish and Manage Aggressive Cost Reduction Programs: Develop and implement cost reduction programs to drive business growth and improve profitability.
  • Create and Maintain KPIs: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Pull Spend Data and Analyze: Analyze spend data from various systems, perform data analysis in Excel, and make recommendations to Senior Leaders.
  • Develop and Leverage Relationships with Internal Customers: Foster strong relationships with internal customers through open communication and follow-up.
  • Promote Synergism between Sourcing, Research and Development Engineering, Design Engineering, and EMS Manufacturing: Drive products down faster learning curves by promoting synergism between departments.
  • Solicit Input from Sourcing Personnel: Solicit input from all Sourcing personnel (Forecast, Buying, SIOP, etc.) in negotiating EMS and key Commodity Supplier partnerships.
  • Lead the Development, Implementation, and Maintenance of the Preferred Supplier List: Develop and maintain a list of preferred suppliers to drive business growth and improve supply chain efficiency.
