Position Overview:

We are in search of a Senior Manager for OMNI News. Our News & Information division is eager to find an innovative, enthusiastic, and dedicated leader to guide our OMNI News team. OMNI news serves as a crucial connection to Canada's rich and diverse multilingual communities, producing regional and national news and information programs in six languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, Punjabi, Italian, Tagalog, and Arabic. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned news professional, skilled in the art of video storytelling and open to embracing innovation. This role is a contract position to cover a maternity leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the editorial news strategy for each of our language news teams across various regions.
  • Provide leadership on journalistic, ethical, and legal matters.
  • Drive change and innovation in editorial content and news programming.
  • Manage a news team, offering coaching, feedback, and mentorship to cultivate the next generation of multilingual journalists.
  • Foster a positive and creative internal culture that aligns with Rogers' values.
  • Enhance and manage integrated editorial efforts with other Rogers Sports & Media news platforms.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in news, particularly in reporting on issues relevant to diverse communities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the diverse language communities served by OMNI.
  • Proven experience in leading complex and regionally diverse teams.
  • Effective leadership skills to unite a diverse group of individuals towards a shared objective.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills to engage with multiple stakeholders, alongside strong editorial judgment.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
