Youth Support Specialist

We are seeking dedicated professionals to provide guidance, leadership, and encouragement to young people in our community. As a Youth Care Counsellor, you will have the opportunity to model healthy relationships, promote positive behavior, and design activities to enhance the overall well-being of participants. This role also presents the chance to expand your knowledge of trauma-informed care and therapeutic programming.

Mountain Plains Community Services Society of the North (MPCSSN) is a non-profit charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We have operated diverse community and family-focused programs since 1972.
What We Offer
- A wellness spending account available after three months of employment.
- A four-on, four-off rotation of 12-hour shifts, with days off.
Responsibilities
The Youth Care Counsellor will work as part of a team to ensure the success of the youth and the program. They should possess an understanding of basic counselling skills and trauma-based knowledge. Key responsibilities include:
- Meeting the physical, medical, emotional, and other needs of clients.
- Providing emotional support and utilizing various counselling skills as required.
- Completing timely documentation.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, applicants must hold a degree or two-year diploma in Child and Youth Care or a related human services field. Additionally, they must possess a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License and a clear Children's Service Intervention Record Check. Desired qualifications include:
- Knowledge of supporting youth struggling with mental health concerns and high-risk lifestyles.
- Experience working as a childcare worker, support worker, or addictions/mental health worker.
