Work Environment

You will work outdoors, at heights, underground, and in confined spaces. You will be exposed to noisy, dusty, cold, and hot environments.

Work Setting

You will work on remote locations and construction sites. You will be required to direct traffic at or near construction sites.

Tasks
  • Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt.
  • Assist in framing houses, erecting walls, and building roofs.
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications.
  • Pave and rake asphalt.
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance work.
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction.
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites.

You will have the opportunity to work in various construction specializations, including driveways, industrial, commercial, and institutional, residential, sidewalks, and curbs, and roofing.

Specialization or Experience

You will have the opportunity to work in the green economy sector.

Transportation/Travel Information

You will be required to own a vehicle.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities

You will work in a fast-paced environment, handling heavy loads, and performing physically demanding tasks. You will be required to work under tight deadlines and perform repetitive tasks.

Weight Handling

You will be required to handle weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs).

Own Tools/Equipment

You will be required to own a hard hat.
