Key Responsibilities:

The Conductor is a critical role in ensuring the safe movement of trains. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring the safe operation of trains by following General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), general orders, and bulletins
  2. Coordinating the switching of cars, including coupling and uncoupling cars, and lifting out coupling devices
  3. Observing, interpreting, and relaying signals and other indications affecting the movement of trains
  4. Providing flag protection and relaying signals to trains in emergency situations
  5. Maintaining accurate records and reports


Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operating environment
  • Ability to report to work within a two-hour call window, after scheduled rest
  • Excellent focus, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Strong communication skills, including clear and concise instructions/directions over radio
