Job Summary

Halton Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Exercise Instructor to join our team. As an Exercise Instructor, you will be responsible for providing exercise instruction and assisting with the ongoing development and evaluation of the Cardiac Rehab Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement exercise programs for patients with cardiac conditions, ensuring consistency in approach and adherence to program standards.
  • Assess and identify patients' goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating their progress with other team members.
  • Practice within the program's standards of care, performing patient care documentation in accordance with professional standards and hospital policy.
  • Participate and facilitate patient/family education utilizing adult education principles and motivational interviewing.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all patients and staff/volunteers, complying with and committing to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Health-related College diploma at minimum required and/or Baccalaureate Degree in a regulated health profession preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years direct exercise instructional/progression related experience with Cardiac Rehab type population.
  • Excellent goal setting, exercise progression, and assessment skills.
  • BCLS required.
  • ACSM Exercise Specialist certification or equivalent preferred or in progress.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and coaching techniques.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with patients and team members.
  • Experience with organizing, coordinating, and overseeing large volumes of patients in a short period of time.
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and leverage sound clinical decision-making.
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint).
