Job Summary

Sialco Materials Ltd., a leading specialty chemical manufacturing division of CES Energy Solutions, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated chemist to join our team as a Process Chemist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume a full-time employment role in the capacity of Process Chemist at our chemical plant, reporting to the Director of Product Realization.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of chemists to screen starting materials, execute quality control tasks for production, perform scale-up experiments for process optimization, and synthesize new chemical compounds as needed.
  • Plan and execute assigned experiments that support non-routine research activities and project goals with general guidance and direction.
  • Perform research activities independently while working in a team setting, demonstrating skills in data analysis and ability to evaluate quality of data.
  • Develop and refine testing procedures and methodologies for new and existing processes.
  • Perform quality control tests in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and batch sheets to support plant production.
  • Maintain and organize accurate test and inventory records.
  • Assist in the daily operation of the laboratory, including safety audits, housekeeping, and maintenance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with at least 5 years of chemical industry experience or Master of Science in Chemistry with 0-2 years of experience in the chemical industry.
  • Experience with following SOPs in an industrial setting.
  • Basic technical and practical knowledge in operation of bench-scale synthetic chemistry and pilot unit operations.
  • Hands-on experience with operating analytical equipment and interpreting results (GC, HPLC, IR, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated and adaptable to different working environments.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
