R&D Scientist

At Intertape Polymer Group, we are seeking a highly skilled R&D Scientist to join our team. As an R&D Scientist, you will be responsible for planning, conducting, and supervising complex or unique projects in extrusion coated woven polyolefins.
Key Responsibilities:- Translate advances in polyolefin resins and additive technology into product improvements and new market opportunities.
- Work closely with the sales force, manufacturing, and customers to determine the needs of the marketplace and to develop high value new products.
- Support all aspects of the product development cycle from idea through commercialization, including trials in the plant, field trials with customers, market development, and technical support for the product launch.
- Ensure that all legal and governmental codes and requirements are identified and met for those projects going forward.
- Plan and formulate aspects of research and development proposals such as objectives or purpose of project, applications that can be utilized from findings, costs of project, equipment, and human resource requirements.
- Review and analyze proposals submitted to determine if benefits derived and possible applications justify expenditures.
- Develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring projects such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff meetings, in order to inform management of current status of each project.
- Interact with various suppliers, customers, and corporate personnel such as technical sales representatives. Demonstrate an ability to anticipate, recognize, design, and implement solutions to problems.
- A science major, chemical engineer, or materials engineer with 5 to 10 years of industrial experience, preferably in the areas of high performance films or plastics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Must be organized and able to handle multiple projects and possess an understanding of the responsibilities of an in-house research department and how multiple business units work together to develop new products for markets supported.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be detail oriented, results driven, and conscientious.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with cross-functional teams.
