The Opportunity:

The HACCP Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the plant's compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining a robust HACCP system. This role will involve liaising with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain HACCP documents and ensure they are reviewed and revised as scheduled
  • Liaise with other stakeholders to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure their implementation
  • Manage the corrective action program to reduce repeat deficiencies and deviations
  • Ensure the plant is in compliance with the written program on an ongoing basis
  • Act as the Point of Contact for CFIA on Preventive Control Plan (PCP) and Standard Inspection Process (SIP) issues
  • Provide timely and effective feedback to stakeholders as required
  • Implement and maintain a compliance reporting system to track plant compliance to the PCP

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of Sanitation, SOPs, Pre-requisite Programs, HACCP, CCPs, and GMPs
  • HACCP I-II certificate
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • 2-3 years experience in the Food industry is preferred
  • Computer proficiency with spreadsheet and database software (Visio, Minitab would be an asset)
