About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Healthcare Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide administrative support to our Care Coordinators, ensuring that patients receive prompt and effective customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support services to Care Coordinators, including processing new referrals and orders for services, supplies, and equipment.
  • Process and assist in managing confidential patient records, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enter, update, and maintain a high volume of patient data in our electronic database, utilizing your keyboarding and data-entry skills.
  • Answer a high volume of telephone inquiries from patients, families, and service providers, providing exceptional customer service and referring callers as necessary.
  • Provide back-up support to other positions, as required, demonstrating your ability to work collaboratively and adapt to changing priorities.

Requirements

  • A Grade 12 diploma (minimum) and 2+ years of related office experience.
  • Accurate keyboarding/data-entry skills and proficiency with database software, MS Word, and Excel in a Windows environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision and meet performance and service goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and interact tactfully and sensitively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong listening skills.
  • We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy, requiring all employees to submit proof of vaccination status prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A college diploma in the health or social services field, or business/office administration.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and office administrative procedures/concepts.
  • Knowledge of services provided by Home and Community Care Support Services.
  • Ability to speak French or another second language.
