Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant will work under the guidance of an RN and RPN to assist with routine activities of patient care within the agreed upon plan of care. This role will perform cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification or clinical specialty, as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient care activities, including vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and wound care.
  • Perform tasks related to patient hygiene, mobility, and comfort.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Certificate of Completion of the Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized Community College or a combination of relevant experience and education preferably from an acute care facility.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Recent experience working in a healthcare facility.
  • Successful completion of corporate Code White training (provided by Brightshores).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Infection Control Practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
  • Ability to work all shifts.
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record.
  • Adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and LEAD Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others).
