Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Emergency Department

Groves Memorial Community Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Department team.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a Nurse Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based care, promote optimal patient health, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients in the Emergency Department
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care transitions
  • Develop and implement medical directives and policies, as well as educate staff on best practices
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the enhancement of professional standards
Qualifications:
  • Nurse Practitioner (Registered Nurse in the Extended Class) with a certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and a license to prescribe controlled substances
  • Master's degree in nursing or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of the Prescription and Management of Controlled Drugs and Substances Course
  • Experience in development and implementation of Medical Directives and Policies and Procedures
  • BCLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • PALS certification preferred
  • Years of recent experience as a nurse practitioner working with adults and pediatrics is required; experience as a nurse practitioner in the Emergency Department preferred
Additional Qualifications:
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired
Hours of Work:
  • Must be available for all three shifts and weekends, as per department schedule
