Key Responsibilities- Cultivating Customer Experience and Relations: Foster positive customer service interactions to enhance the overall shopping experience, increase basket size, encourage repeat business, and boost customer foot traffic.
- Achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Deliver results in critical areas such as sales, profitability, costing, customer footfall, basket size, and safety standards.
- Providing Leadership and Team Support: Offer guidance and leadership to the team by providing coaching, training, and direction on daily priorities and essential tasks. Ensure adherence to standards and follow up to confirm completion.
- Managing Team Operations: Oversee hiring processes, conduct training sessions, create schedules, lead performance evaluations, and, if necessary, manage disciplinary procedures. Identify talent within the team and foster employee development opportunities.
- Maintaining Operational Excellence: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of all store operations and implement strategies to ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, optimal merchandising practices, cleanliness standards, and overall store presentation.
- Implementing Inventory Controls: Establish and enforce proper inventory management practices to minimize shrinkage and maximize inventory compliance.
- Managing Store Costs: Monitor and control expenses throughout the store to ensure efficient cost management and profitability.
- Promoting Positive Interactions: Interact with others in a respectful and accepting manner, maintain a positive attitude even in challenging situations, utilize de-escalation techniques as necessary, and serve as a role model for organizational values.
- Collaborating with Head Office Departments: Work closely with various departments at the head office, including Human Resources, Finance, Supply Chain, and Marketing, to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Completion of College or University Degree or Diploma (Ideally in a business, marketing, or related field).
- Ideally 3+ years of cumulative experience in a related environment – where leadership, operational, and relationship management skills were demonstrated and developed.
- Experience in the food service/wholesale industry (B2B) strongly preferred.
- Strong overall computer skills – comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), Warehouse Management, and Point of Sales systems.
- Operations Management: Able to maintain consistent oversight of store functions, delegating and following up with staff to ensure efficiency and performance is optimized and company standards upheld.
- Customer/Sales Focus: Demonstrated ability to facilitate a customer-centric environment – driving sales by delivering attentive service, personalized interactions, and proactive problem-solving to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Type of Role: Full-time permanent – 48 hours (6 days)/week
- Work Environment:
- Occasionally lifting (up to 50 lbs).
- Ability to climb ladder.
- Constantly on feet – walking/standing/climbing.
- May be working in refrigerated area.
- Noise level may exceed 80 decibels.
- Travel:
- Occasional travel to head office for management meetings/training.
- Occasional assistance at other A1 locations.
