About the Role

West Fraser is seeking a skilled Millwright to join our team at the Cochrane Sawmill. As an Industrial Mechanic, you will play a crucial role in our continuous maintenance improvement program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies to ensure equipment uptime during production shifts.
  • Work safely using established SOPs, following all lockouts and protocols, and completing PTHAs.
  • Preventative maintenance and repair of conveyors, various belt and chain transfer and drive systems, sawing, debarking, sorting, stacking, and compressors.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery.
Requirements
  • Commitment to working safely and creating a safe workplace.
  • Sawmill experience is an asset.
  • A valid Inter-Provincial or Provincial Journeyperson Millwright certification or a Millwrighting Apprentice preparing to enroll in their 4th year.
  • Mechanical aptitude; excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work closely with other trades and employees.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible schedule for workdays, nights, and weekend shifts.
