Job Title: Field Technician/Technologist

GEMTEC Consulting Engineers & Scientists Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician/Technologist to join our team in Barrie, Ontario.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly qualified individual with a strong background in civil engineering and materials testing to perform field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt. The successful candidate will have experience with computer-assisted drafting (CAD) and surveying, as well as working in civil construction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Field testing and sampling of aggregates, soils, concrete, and asphalt
  • Compaction testing of subgrade soils, aggregates, and asphalt
  • Subgrade and foundation inspections
  • Supervising a drill rig
  • Assisting in the completion of Phase One and Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments
  • Assisting field investigations, including supervision of borehole drilling and monitoring well installation, test pit investigation and surface water and groundwater sampling
  • Compilation, tabulation, and interpretation of field and analytical results
  • Field testing and sampling of soil, sediment, water and air
  • Various office and field tasks related to materials testing
Requirements:
  • Working towards a College Level Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Experience with materials testing and inspection
  • Experience working with computer-assisted drafting (CAD) and surveying is considered an asset
  • Experience working in civil construction is considered an asset
  • Valid driver's license
