Job Title: Sessional Instructor, Practical Nursing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sessional Instructor, Practical Nursing to join our team at North Island College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the Practical Nursing Diploma program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and mentor students in the Practical Nursing Diploma program
  • Develop and implement curriculum and instructional materials
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback
  • Participate in department meetings and contribute to the development of the program
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment
Requirements:
  • Current practising license as an LPN, NP, RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP)
  • One of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution: Provincial Instructor diploma (PID), formal educational equivalent to PID, or proof of completion of a formal Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
  • Three to five years recent related practice experience (equivalent to full-time hours per year)
  • Credential in Adult Education / equivalent or in progress from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Experience using a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning within a distributed teaching-learning environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of BC Practical Nursing curriculum and scope of practice
  • Experience or interest with Indigenous health and/or global health
  • Experience using a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning within a distributed teaching-learning environment and classroom
