The University of Windsor is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Operating Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Facilities Operations department, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of the Energy Conversion Centre, the Central Refrigeration Plant, and campus HVAC equipment.
Your primary objective will be to achieve effectiveness and efficiency of ECC related operations in meeting the needs of the campus community. This will involve leading a team of engineers and technicians to ensure reliable operations and efficient delivery of services to the University community.
You will also be responsible for providing leadership to team members and contractors, as well as supporting innovative and creative projects to achieve operational efficiencies and enhance client satisfaction.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:
- A first-class operating engineer certification from TSSA, with a minimum of 5 years of first-class experience.
- Experience leading and managing people, preferably in unionized environments.
- Technical experience in power plant operations, HVAC systems, and large chilled water systems and equipment.
- Proficiency in budgeting and financial planning, including the ability to manage budgets and optimize cost effectiveness in resource allocation and expenditures.
- Experience with procurement, contract management, and negotiations.
Experience working in a higher-education setting is an asset.
