Culturally Sensitive Healthcare Navigator Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Culturally Sensitive Healthcare Navigator to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. This dynamic role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a deep understanding of African Nova Scotian and Black cultures.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients, families, healthcare providers, and community agencies to provide culturally safe care and support. They will facilitate access to appropriate healthcare services, promote health literacy, and advocate for the needs of African Nova Scotian and Black patients.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will possess a Bachelor's degree in a health professional discipline and relevant experience working with African Nova Scotian and Black communities. Your extensive knowledge of cultural safety and competency in healthcare is essential, along with proficiency in computer applications and excellent time management skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, you will prioritize workload, maintain accurate records, and write reports as needed. Your ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and adapt to changing circumstances is vital.
Compensation and BenefitsThis permanent, full-time position offers a competitive salary of $33.96 - $42.89 per hour, plus benefits including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage. You may also be eligible for a defined benefit pension plan.
Location and HoursBased in Central Zone, Abbie J. Lane Memorial Building - QEII, you will work 75 hours bi-weekly. As a valued member of our team, you will enjoy a supportive work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
