About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Buyer Experience engineering team. As a Staff Engineer, you'll work closely with a world-class team of engineers, designers, product managers, and analysts to create exceptional products that make a difference on one of the world's most trafficked websites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical development, working closely with a skilled team of engineers to design, develop, test, and experiment with large-scale applications, low-latency APIs, and data pipelines.
  • Hire top talent, coach, and mentor team members to drive excellence in software development.
  • Write clean, maintainable code, and create high-performance, delightful experiences for customers.
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring seamless user experiences.
  • Oversee major projects and features from design to coding and testing, collaborating with product managers, engineering leaders, scientists, and partner teams to execute a challenging roadmap.

Requirements

  • Exceptional programming skills in Java/Scala.
  • Experience building and consuming horizontally scalable RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Spark, Flink, and Kafka.
  • Self-driven and ability to get things done, with a constant desire to improve and learn.
  • Experience with scrum or other agile software development methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of software design and relevant experience, or a Master's degree in Computer Science and 7+ years of experience.
