About Gerdau's Next Generation Program

G. Start is a paid internship program designed to develop students for future technical and managerial positions within the steel manufacturing industry.

As a Mechanical Engineering and Process Development Professional, you will have the opportunity to work on project-focused tasks that are mutually beneficial to both you and the company.

This position will be a full-time, 6-month long internship opportunity in Whitby, ON.

About the Role:

  • Design and test small equipment improvements in the Rolling Mills and Finishing Ends.
  • Gain additional experience with CAD, D printing.
  • Help the Rolling Mill Department plan and execute our Annual Action Plan for /.
  • Support process improvements through participation in formal Failure Analysis.
  • Examine major material or process time losses using Root Cause Analysis methodology.

About the Requirements:

To be eligible for this position, you must be an undergraduate entering third or fourth year, pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science or Metallurgy Engineering or related field from a recognized accredited college or university.

You should also have a record of high academic achievement (GPA . or higher preferred) and well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities.

Must be legally authorized to work full-time in Canada without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment.

Candidates must demonstrate leadership potential, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
