We are seeking a talented lawyer to join our team at AutoTrader.

About the Role

We are looking for a commercial lawyer with experience in technology law to provide product counsel and negotiate agreements for procurement, inbound licensing, partnerships, and product integrations. As a member of our legal team, you will work closely with business teams to empower them by providing legal support on innovative new products and negotiating with major banks and technology companies.

About You

We are looking for a curious, passionate, and driven commercial lawyer with a strong interest in technology. You should have experience drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements, including strategic partnerships, goods and services, software, and other licensing arrangements. You should also have experience providing legal counsel on new product developments, including drafting terms of service and associated policies.

Requirements for the Role

  • A or A license to practice law in any common law province in Canada (preferably Ontario and/or Quebec)
  • Relevant legal experience, ideally having started out at a top-tier law firm, followed by in-house experience
  • Substantial experience drafting and negotiating complex legal agreements
  • Substantial experience providing legal counsel on new product developments
  • Experience leading and managing projects, and managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, and deadlines
  • Exceptional business judgement and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

Bonus Experience

  • Experience with regulatory law
  • Experience with privacy and data issues
  • Experience in commercial negotiation and providing product counsel in the technology sector
