Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team at FedEx Supply Chain. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting managers and workers in the workplace to identify, correct, and control environmental risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Plan and coordinate OHS audits in the distribution center to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Evaluate risks present in the environment using a risk matrix and develop recommendations for prevention programs.
  • Coach and support supervisors in incident/accident investigations and the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Verify compliance with OHS rules and procedures and communicate any deficiencies to key stakeholders.
  • Act as an awareness agent and intervene when necessary to promote a safe working environment.
  • Produce OHS statistical reports and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and update of lockout programs, work at height procedures, and confined space protocols.
  • Communicate information on work safety and accident prevention to employee groups through various channels.

Requirements

  • Occupational health and safety certificate or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a logistics or supply chain environment.
  • Flexible and available to work outside of regular business hours.
  • Bilingualism in French and English (essential).
  • Ability to work in a context of continuous improvement and change.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
  • Organizational skills, rigor, and autonomy.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret information.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to sit, walk, or stand for up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to intermittently crawl, squat, climb, twist, bend, stoop, push, or pull.
  • Must possess visual acuity, including close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift or carry items less than 40 pounds.
