Job Summary

The City of Mississauga is seeking a skilled Skating Instructor to teach group ice skating classes for participants of all ages. As a key member of our Community Services team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons that promote fun and skill development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach group lessons to participants aged 3 to adult, focusing on basic to advanced skills.
  • Ensure the safety of all participants during lessons and inspect equipment for proper fit and condition.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all participants, incorporating the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development.
  • Provide excellent customer service to participants, parents, and volunteers.
  • Evaluate student progress and complete progress cards for each student in a testable program.
Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years of age.
  • Figure Skating, Hockey, or Recreational skating lessons experience.
  • Knowledge to teach and ability to perform skills in the City of Mississauga Skating Program.
  • Valid Emergency or Standard First Aid certificate with CPR B or C certification.
  • Valid HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position with up to 24 hours of work per week. You will be required to work at various arenas in Mississauga, including Clarkson CC, Erin Mills Twin Arena, and others. You must be able to stand/skate for extended periods in a cold environment.
